Engineering curriculum

ISAE‑Supméca delivers the «Diplôme d’Ingénieur de l’Institut Supérieur de Mécanique de Paris » Masters Degree in Science and Engineering.

ISAE‑Supméca offers a 3-year curriculum which concludes 5-year engineering studies.

Students will join ISAE‑Supméca after preliminary 2 year post secondary school studies.

French students usually join ISAE‑Supméca after completing a 2-year highly selective and intensive scientific curriculum (preparatory class) preparing for the national competitive entrance examination to French engineering schools (‘Grandes Écoles’)
Combining high level academic classes with a significant experience in the industry, the engineering curriculum in ISAE‑Supméca aims at maintaining tight links with the business world requirements. During the 3-year curriculum 11 months are dedicated to internships. More than half of the students take this organization as an opportunity to go and intern abroad.
The curriculum includes mandatory and optional scientific courses; economic science courses, social and human science courses as well as two mandatory foreign languages including English, during the 1st and 2nd year, and customized options during the 2nd and 3rd year.

A common curriculum during year 1 (3rd study year)

Organization of the common curriculum (1350h):

• Scientific courses which include: applied mathematics, automatic control, computer science, mechanical and structural engineering, material engineering, fluid mechanics.
• Technological courses: industrial engineering, product-process design, system design, R&D projects. They allow students to put in practice knowledge in wrap-up activities.
• Foreign languages, economic sciences and communication courses aim at giving students an opening on the external world and a hands-on approach to corporate environment. They also allow students to get familiar with communication techniques.

In year 2, electives courses and common core

In addition to the common core courses, students must choose 6 other courses within 33 possibilities.

In year 3 (5th study year), optional courses are added to the common core

Right from the 2nd year, ISAE‑Supméca offers a customized orientation and career path thanks to curriculum choice with clearly identified goals. This way, 4 specific curriculums correspond to specific career paths. These specific curriculums are chosen at the end of the 2nd year to provide the best match between our students study plan and their professional project.
